Jaz Belvedere Resort, Sharm el Sheikh – Hotel Review

Our family stayed at the Jaz Belvedere Resort, Sharm el Sheikh in the fall of 2024. This five star resort is part of the Jaz hotel chain which owns many hotels in Egypt and some other countries, including Zanzibar.

We found Jaz Belvedere Resort excellent for families with kids. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of people staying there were families. That said, we also found couples, single travelers and others staying there. So, it’s going to be a good fit for many. We’ve heard from some travelers that this is not their first time at the Jaz Belvedere Resort. They keep coming back because they greatly enjoy their stay.

Hope our experience will be useful for other travelers looking to stay at this hotel.

Dining at the Jaz Belvedere Resort

Jaz Belvedere Resort offers all inclusive rates. Many things are included in price, although not everything (e.g., food in your mini bar is not free).

The resort has one main restaurant where you will be eating buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also an a la carte seafood restaurant where you can book a free of charge meal once during your vacation. In addition, there are several bars where you can get alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and snacks during the day. If you miss one of the meals at the main restaurant, you can always get a pizza, a salad or a sandwich. There is also ice cream available (although only one kind – chocolate ice-cream).

In terms of the main restaurant, we found the food selection quite good. It varied from day to day and choices did not seem repetitive. For dinner, we normally had a good selection of meats and fish, salads, a pasta station, breads, soup and desserts of different kinds. Don’t expect large varieties of seafood (for that you need to go to the a la carte restaurant), but you’ll find some stations with fish and/or shrimp. We also had a large selection of sushi on one night. Keep in mind that all the good stuff disappears very quickly. So, you need to be on a lookout when the staff brings more.

The restaurant is usually not very crowded at breakfast and lunch. However, there are often many people coming to dinner right when the restaurant opens at 7 pm. I suggest coming either right at 7 pm or much later (at 8 pm or so), because you might end up without a good table.

Beach

Jaz Belvedere Resort has a spacious sandy beach which is perfect for kids. There are plenty of beach chairs with large umbrellas which will protect you well from the sun. The beach is normally not crowded and you can always get a beach chair. The water is very clear and you can see all the sea creatures in it quite well.

The hotel provides beach towels, but not at the beach or at the pool. You will find them in your room. You have to carry them to the beach and from the beach, which is a bit of a pain since they are quite big and heavy. If you want to get them changed, you need to call housekeeping. Using your own lighter towel would not work well. It’s often quite windy at the beach, and you need a heavy towel to keep it in place.

In the water, the surface is quite rough and there is a lot of dead coral, so wearing special shoes is recommended. We tried going without snorkeling shoes and quickly went back to get them.

The hotel has a long pontoon bridge at the end of the beach. This is a great way to enter without having to walk long ways. The water is quite shallow and you need to walk far till it gets deep enough for swimming.

Water temperature varies by season. In October, it’s about 27 degrees, which is quite comfortable. In the summer, you will find very warm water, over 30 degrees.

Pool activities at the Jaz Belvedere Resort

The hotel has several pools, including one small one for little kids. There are plenty of chairs available for everyone. In the fall, the water is quite cold and you won’t find too many people inside the pool. In the winter time, children’s pool gets heated.

Please note that unlike some other hotels in Sharm el Sheikh, Jaz Belvedere does not have a water park on its premises. So, if you are looking for a resort where you can do some fun water activities, you might want to check out other hotels. You can check my post: Best Hotels and Resorts in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt to get some ideas. There are some hotels which have spectacular water parks on their premises which get raves reviews. For our family, water park was not a big deal, so we did not really need it at the hotel. In fact, we prefer a quieter atmosphere, so we’d rather have no water park at the hotel.

Coral reef

Jaz Belvedere Resort is definitely not the greatest hotel for you if you are a highly sophisticated diver/snorkeler, looking for the best possible experience. There are some other hotels in Sharm el Sheikh with much better coral reefs.

However, if you are just looking to see some corals and some fish and/or show them to your kids, you will not be disappointed. You just need to look in the right places.

Especially on the right hand side of the pontoon bridge, you will find lots of different types of fish to marvel at. There is a small coral reef there and it has a lot of colorful inhabitants. We bought a booklet of fish types present in the Red Sea and we found quite a few types on our beach.

If you’d like to go snorkeling in the deep sea, there are many options available. The hotel itself has a diving club which offers many opportunities. We opted for a snorkeling trip on a large boat called Liberty Catamaran, which is perfect for families.

Entertainment and sports at th Jaz Belvedere Resort

Jaz Belvedere Resort offers a lot of entertainment for its guests. The Magic World is their fabulous animation team. You will find the schedule of activities on the board near the pool and the restaurant. Most of the shows take place at the theater. There are also various activities near the pool. You can play cricket, beach volleyball and bocce ball game at the beach.

Every night, the animation team organizes a mini disco for little kids. It lasts about 30 minutes. This is a great experience for the little ones. My daughter went every day and was very happy there.

The hotel also has a kid’s club which provides activities during the day (in the morning and in the late afternoon). This is for kids up to 12 years old. My daughter went there several times and had a great experience. They were playing different games, drawing etc. The kid’s club also includes a children’s playground where kids can play any time, even when the club is not open.

The hotel has a gym and 2 tennis courts. The gym is small. It has two treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, and several additional exercise machines. Oftentimes, all machines get taken, as there are lots of guests willing to use them. One other issue I found is that all the dumbbells at this gym were way too heavy for me. They were mostly for men (or some highly athletic ladies).

Tennis courts are hard courts. The surface is a little bit cracked in a few places but overall, they are fine. We played and did not have an issue. You can use the courts for free during the day. If you want to switch on lighting and play at night, you have to pay extra.

Rooms

The Jaz Belvedere Resort consists of 3-storied white villas spread through the green territory. During the day, the white color shines beautifully in the bright sun. At night, the territory also looks gorgeous as many lights are lit up all over the place.

Rooms at the hotel are quite spacious with tall ceilings. There is also a nice balcony with a table and chairs. Each room has a hairdryer, safe, tea kettle, fridge and other amenities. As mentioned above, items in the mini bar are extra charge. You get two large bottles of water for free every day. These are glass bottles, in line with sustainable practices of the hotel. The cleaning staff is very nice and thorough. They will make sure they clean your room every day.

Frankly speaking, room renovation would not be a bad idea given that some items are a bit old (e.g., safe was quite outdated in my view), but things are functional. If something breaks (in our case, we could not open the room door), reception acts quickly. Help was sent immediately and problem resolved.

Shops

The hotel has a nice shop where you can buy everything for the beach (shoes, hats, masks, kids toys), a pharmacy which has a good supply of medicines, as well as a medical clinic on site. If you don’t have snorkeling gear, no need to worry. You can buy everything you need at the store.

Taxi service

If you want to take a ride somewhere (Naama Bay, Dahab etc.), you can get a taxi at reception. The prices are clearly marked on a sign. You can pay at the reception and then the car takes you to the place of your choosing. It’s very easy.

The price to Naama Bay, a renowned tourist hub, and back is $20. You can tell the driver when to pick you up and he will be waiting for you. If you are going shopping in Naama Bay, it usually takes 2-3 hours to get some nice things there. You’ll find plenty of gift shops, and souvenirs are not expensive.

Why is this resort good for families?

I see several reasons why Jaz Belvedere Resort, Sharm el Sheikh suits families well.

First, it has a nice green territory where no cars are present. You can let your kids run around freely as there is no danger of them getting hurt. The staff everywhere at the hotel are very nice and attentive.

Second, as mentioned above, Jaz Belvedere Resort has a nice kid’s club and organizes a mini disco every night.

Third, the beach is quite large and well suited for kids to build sand castles, play near the water etc. There are plenty of sea creatures in the sea which will keep your little ones entertained.

We are definitely considering coming back to the Jaz Belvedere Resort when we travel to Egypt next.
